The Winding Road to Motherhood

Pregnancy… gosh. I used to think it would just happen. That it would be easy, natural, no big task. But I quickly learned it’s not that way for everyone. Before I ever held my babies, I experienced a missed miscarriage, followed by a chemical pregnancy. And it broke me.

At the time, I was living in Dubai, but I was back in the UK for a visit — and that’s where I had the scan that confirmed the loss. I found out there and then, surrounded by family and familiarity, but just a week later, I had to fly back to Dubai — away from my husband, my support system, my people. It felt like my heart was in pieces. To make things even harder, the day after my scan I was a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding. I smiled, I got dressed up, I pretended everything was fine. And honestly, I wish I hadn’t.

It’s not good for the soul to carry something so heavy in silence.

A Pregnancy During a Pandemic

Third time lucky, I fell pregnant with Aurora. But it was in the middle of the pandemic — and that brought its own challenges. The scans looked different. The rooms were emptier. Everything felt quieter, more clinical, and a little bit lonelier. There was this added layer of pressure that sat just beneath the surface the whole time.

But all of it — the loss, the fear, the waiting — made me appreciate the beauty in it even more. I don’t dream of big houses or fast cars. What I wish for is time. Time to raise my girls, to raise them well, and to soak in all the small, ordinary, meaningful moments. That’s why I hold space for these seasons through my photography — because they matter, deeply.

The Beauty in the Becoming

Pregnancy isn’t just about carrying a child — it’s about becoming someone entirely new. You’re still you, but softer. Stronger. Full of questions and what-ifs. Full of love for someone you haven’t even met yet.

That’s why I believe maternity sessions should be more than just photos of your bump. They should feel like you. They should capture the wonder, the anticipation, the quiet joy, and even the ache. Because you will never be this version of yourself again — not ever. And that’s something worth remembering.

A Session That Feels Like You

When you book a maternity session with me, it’s not just about the final gallery — it’s about how you feel during it. You’ll receive a preparation guide and a questionnaire so I can learn more about you, your story, and your vision.

Not sure what look, mood, or setting you want to go for? That’s okay — we can chat it through, and I can share some visual guides to help you get inspired. Whether you lean romantic, relaxed, playful or poetic — we’ll bring your story to life in a way that feels true to you.

Nothing Forced, Just Honest Moments

As with all my sessions, everything is guided but never posed. I’ll gently prompt you in ways that feel natural, so your experience flows and you never feel stiff or awkward. The goal isn’t to perform — it’s to connect.

You can bring sentimental objects, include siblings, partners, pets — anything that makes this moment yours. The best time for maternity sessions is usually between 28–34 weeks, when your bump is lovely and round but you’re still feeling relatively comfortable. But that’s just a guide — we can always adjust based on what feels right for you.

“IVF is such an amazing thing. It’s mad to think without it, I would never be able to carry my own child. I have two blocked fallopian tubes, as well as endometriosis, and was told IVF was our only hope for a baby, and to think it worked first time is a miracle! Some women have to endure this cycle many times, go through heartbreak and have conversations of how many times their willing to try.

Don’t ever be fooled, it’s not an easy experience! The injections are actually the easy part, it’s the hormones, the rush of emotions at scans, the longing and hope that please let this work. We got 1 egg that met the grade, just one, one hope, and that little embryo made it.

We actually found out we were pregnant in hospital, I had no complications during my IVF procedure, but still got OHSS, which I’ve now been told can happen easily to anyone. I was on a low dose of injections, no pointers that I was at risk of getting OHSS, but a week after transfer I fell ill, quick.

I was in hospital for a week, I had fluids, antibiotics, morphine, a drain which was fitted through my belly (and drained a massive 6.8 litres of fluid), the swelling was insane. The hospital was amazing to me, the nurses were like friends, they all cheered and even cried when they found out through all the pain and hard times, we were pregnant. I will never forget some of the team that sat with me through the night to hold my hand when the pain and sickness got too much.

We are due in July, and it's been one of the most incredible and exciting, yet nerve wrecking and hard going experiences we've ever faced. It really has been a roller coaster of a journey, but my god am I thankful to be here with our baby in my belly. ”

– From the incredible mum-to-be herself , her journey has been everything but easy, but I couldn’t be happier for this couple. So soon, they’ll be holding their beautiful baby girl in their arms
